Over 300 students benefit from FIFE Fund each year!
FIFE Fund presentation ceremony 2016 – an annual occasion to bring FIFE recipients and supporters together.
Over 300 students benefit from FIFE Fund each year!

"I am grateful that I was able to participate in diverse cultural activities with the help of the First-in-the-Family Education Fund, which gave me exposure to different cultures and rewarding experiences." Rachel Lee (Arts, Year 4) shared how she has used the Fund to participate in an array of activities, including an internship in Shanghai, an exchange programme in South Korea, and living in a residential college at the annual presentation ceremony held in April.

She was keen to highlight hall life in her sharing as it encouraged her to engage with the community and developed her sense of belonging in the university neighbourhood. "We established the Elder Academy through which our students offer classes to the elderly that cater their needs such as smartphone workshops. We also organised basin meals for Kennedy Town residents. The more closely I engage with senior citizens, the more I realise that what they really want is simple. Companionship is all they need to be happy."

She was echoed by Mr Lam Chiu-Ying (BSc 1972), former Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, as well as FIFE Fund supporter, who encouraged students to continuously seek new challenges in life. "Learning new things will open up new windows to the world. Do something you imagined you would never know how to do, and you would suddenly realise you are a different person."

"Your mission should be doing some good in this world, doing some good for the unfortunate, because people have shown their love and care towards you through this FIFE Fund scheme," Mr Lam continued.

The "First-in-the-Family Education Fund" Scheme (FIFE Fund), established in 2008, has supported more than 2,400 grassroots students in taking part in over 3,000 learning activities outside the classroom.  Each year, some 300 students benefit from the Fund.

Please lend us your support. Make a gift now to help our students to realize their dreams.
