Oct 2014

Thanks to the support of HKU Foundation members, alumni and friends, the “My Voice, My Life”《爭氣》Gala Premiere was a resounding success.

This inspiring documentary was directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ruby Yang, the HKU Hung Leung Hau Ling Distinguished Fellow in Humanities and scholar-in-residence at Shun Hing College.  It was edited at the production suites of our Journalism and Media Studies Centre from 500 hours of raw footage by Ruby and her crew, which included many HKU student interns.

Over 1,400 guests joined the Gala. There were some 110 patrons with about $900,000 raised. The proceeds will benefit the “First-in-the-Family Education Fund”, which advocates equal learning opportunities for grass-roots students.
