Dr Mary Gray Rodrigues 羅紀瑪浰博士 (BA 1967; Hon DSocSc 2004), former Chairman of Convocation, offered great encouragement to the five HKU Sports Scholars who represented Hong Kong at the Tokyo Olympics: Hayley Chan, Oscar Coggins, Ryan Choi, Moonie Chu and Coco Lin. Each of them was awarded HK$100,000 for their academic and sports career development.
Dr Rodrigues made this generous gift to honour her late father-in-law Sir Albert Rodrigues, who was the first Board Chairman of the Jubilee Sports Centre 銀禧體育中心, which was later renamed the Hong Kong Sports Institute 香港體育學院 .
