Born in Malaysia, Winky Leong (BASc(FinTech)) always dreams of studying abroad. She achieved excellent public examination results at high school and was awarded an entrance scholarship for her admission to HKU. She is excited to explore the world outside her hometown. “HKU is a place full of diversity, and is truly a nurturing place for me to experience and grow!”

Tony Chan (PhD) was awarded a Postgraduate Fellowship for his research study at the Department of Microbiology. He is keen to investigate how coronaviruses infect organisms and subsequently spread to others. By revealing unknown virus transmission pathways, he hopes to find ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. “I’m glad that the COVID-19 diagnostic essay I developed can be used for mass onsite-screening.”

Majoring in History, Eric Chan (BA) has long held a dream of creating a history-themed game to promote the learning of history through play. He initiated a start-up to develop a History educational game app “Hystery” for secondary school students. “Being awarded a scholarship for History students is a strong boost to my confidence and I am eager to take my passion in history further.”
