The Bank of East Asia, Limited and HKU Credit Cardholders are thanked for their support with a homecoming party

A garden party at University Lodge, hosted by Dr the Hon Sir David Li Kwok-po and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, was held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 to thank The Bank of East Asia, Limited (BEA). More than 200 HKU Credit Cardholders, friends, family and colleagues attended the party and enjoyed the afternoon.

At HKU’s 80th anniversary in 1993, the first university affinity card in Hong Kong was launched with the support of The Bank of East Asia, Limited (BEA) which contributes 0.4% of cardholders’ spending to the HKU Foundation. Today there are 49,438 alumni cardholders who support HKU by using their cards. More than HK$63 million has been donated towards the HKU Foundation to support scholarships since 1993.

In the academic year 2009/10, the HKU Foundation has supported 769 students through HKU Foundation Scholarships for Outstanding Students, Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding Mainland Students & International Students and University Postgraduate Fellowship Scheme.
