K. K. Leung Building

Dr Leung Kau Kui (HonLLD 1995) was a Hong Kong philanthropist. He was also Managing Director of Hang Seng Bank in Hong Kong and former Executive Vice-Chairman of Dah Cheong Trading Company.  He donated HK$10 million as an endowment for the library and to support general departmental activities in the University. Dr Leung’s daughter Annie Wong is also a renowned philanthropist and art patron. The 18-storey K.K. Leung Building was established in his memory and was opened on September 19, 1989.

It housed the Departments of the Social Sciences and Law Faculties, the School of Economics and Finance, and the Language Centre of the Centre of Japanese Studies as well as the Senior Common Room on the top two floors. Now, the Building houses the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Senior Common Room.
