Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre (Grand Hall)

The Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, a focal point of the Centennial Campus, was built with generous gift from Dr Lee Shau Kee (HonLLD 1998). The Lee Shau Kee Foundation donated $500 million to HKU in support of its institutional advancement.

In recognition of these generous gifts, the University named the Lecture Centre as the Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre where houses the Grand Hall and lecture rooms. The Grand Hall is built as a modern and multi-functional box-in-box structure with a world-class acoustic system, capable of supporting a wide variety of professional and international events such as concerts, ceremonies, academic conferences, and lectures.

“Nurturing great talents is a long-term investment. The task often seems imposing and monumental. The result, however, is immensely rewarding as society benefits from the knowledge and expertise that these leaders acquire during their school years. The University of Hong Kong is an outstanding institution. Through this donation I wish to support the future development of the University, thereby enabling it to continue its excellent tradition of producing exemplary leaders for Hong Kong, Mainland China and the global community.”  -Dr Lee Shau Kee
